FULDA, GERMANY (17.4.2024)
Mehler Protection had the honour of hosting Boris Rhein, Minister-President of the State of Hesse, at its headquarters in Fulda. Minister-President Rhein’s visit aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of Mehler Protection’s product lineup and production processes, with a particular focus on the company’s role in equipping Hesse’s law enforcement personnel and providing innovative ballistic protection systems to the German Federal Armed Forces.
Supplying Security Equipment for Law Enforcement Agencies and Military
Thomas Homberg, CEO of Mehler Systems and Managing Director of Mehler Protection, underscored the company’s pivotal role as a supplier of security equipment for law enforcement agencies. Homberg expressed pride in Mehler Protection’s contribution to the safety and protection of Hessian police officers with the Hessian Police Vest, which offers stab and cut protection as well as ballistic protection tailored to meet the highest safety standards while ensuring optimal fit and comfort for officers.
In addition to serving government agencies, Mehler Protection is a trusted systems supplier to the German Armed Forces and NATO member states. The company’s innovative ballistic protection systems are modular and scalable, designed to adapt to evolving operational scenarios. Minister-President Rhein gained firsthand insights into Mehler Protection’s various specialist areas, including development, production, and quality control, during a comprehensive tour of the production facility.
Highlighting Mehler Protection’s Contribution to Public Safety
Minister-President Rhein recognised Mehler Protection’s expertise and its vital role in providing protective gear to law enforcement and security agencies. He expressed appreciation for the longstanding relationship between the Hessian police and Mehler Systems group, highlighting significant contributions to improving the safety of its personnel.
"A reliable supply of high-quality, mission-specific protective equipment requires a cooperative relationship and ongoing discourse with policymakers, especially at the political echelon, alongside open communication with the end-users, namely the police officers. Thus, we are particularly delighted by Minister-President Rhein's visit and keen interest," stated Homberg.
Commitment to Safety and Regional Development
With approximately 600 employees at its Fulda site, Mehler Protection remains dedicated to implementing challenging projects and investing in the local community, as evidenced by the opening of the Fulda plant in 2022.
"I am grateful and proud that we in Hesse have versatile, internationally active companies like Mehler Systems, which make a significant contribution to the safety of our emergency services and thus improve their daily work. Mehler Systems is one of the world's leading manufacturers of protective systems and is a prime example of the innovative strength and commitment of the business location of Hesse," concluded Minister-President Boris Rhein.
