Mehler Protection exhibited at SMM 2026 in Hamburg from 1–4 September, presenting active and passive protection solutions developed for naval platforms.
One of the main exhibits was M-RACC KE, a modular add-on armour solution designed to increase the ballistic protection of existing structures and platforms. Visitors could compare configurations across STANAG 4569/AEP-55 Levels 1 to 4, showing how the system can be adapted to different threat levels and platform requirements.
The booth also featured a ship-wall display fitted with ballistic armour, providing a practical example of how Mehler Protection’s solutions can be integrated into naval structures.
Another major highlight was the launch of SCILT NAVAL, a new active counter-UAV system developed to protect ships against close-range threats. The system is designed to counter small UAVs, including FPV drones, one-way attack systems and loitering munitions.
SCILT NAVAL serves as a last line of defence for individual vessels, particularly in situations where conventional air defence systems may have limited time to respond. These can include ports, confined waterways, amphibious operations, landing craft and fixed maritime installations.
The system combines onboard sensors, effectors and operating controls and can be integrated into existing command-and-control and sensor systems. Where suitable interfaces are not available, it can also operate using its own detection and engagement chain.
Developed over approximately 18 months, SCILT NAVAL underwent 48 test series covering ballistic performance, firing safety and fragment distribution, as well as maritime conditions such as salt spray, corrosion, vibration and wave impact.
Together, the exhibits presented at SMM 2026 demonstrated Mehler Protection’s capabilities in both ballistic armour and active close-range protection for naval platforms.
